Rina Zelmann did her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University, under the supervision of Jean Gotman. Her PhD research focused on the automatic detection and analysis of High Frequency Oscillations (HFOs) in the human EEG. She developed an automatic detector of HFOs and analysed the correlates on the surface of the brain of HFOs visible on the scalp. Besides her own research projects, her extensive collaboration with other fellows resulted in several publications that demonstrated the relation of HFOs with epilepsy.

She did a postdoc at the Montreal Neurological Institute working on the optimization of depth electrode implantation planning that improved accuracy and increase the amount of information obtained during intracranial EEG investigation of refractory patients. She is currently a post-doctoral research fellow studying closed loop brain stimulation with Sydney Cash as part of DARPA TRANSFORM DBS project at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She also collaborates with a variety of HFO projects.
