
Dr. Alex Bender is a physician-scientist and epileptologist at Massachusetts General Hospital. He earned his MD and PhD from the Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine in 2018. He subsequently completed residency training in Neurology at Mass General Brigham/Harvard Medical School from 2019 to 2022 and a fellowship in epilepsy at Massachusetts General Hospital from 2022-2024. Dr. Bender currently works as an epilepsy attending in the Division of Clinical Neurophysiology. His research focuses on understanding the neurophysiological mechanisms of sleep dysfunction and cognitive impairment in adult epilepsy by combining innovative digital cognitive testing with advanced electrophysiological analysis of brain activity. He is the recipient of the NIH NINDS R25 and the Mass General Neuroscience Transformative Scholars Award.
